Flop is an animated typeface, that challenges the conventional two-dimensional perception of letterforms. Built from simple shapes, it falls, rolls and ultimately fails.

The project started as a study on typographic balance as well as construction letterforms. By deconstructing characters and combining different weights together, eventually I started wondering what would happen if the whole letter starts to fall apart in different pieces? How would they interact with each other?

The Letterforms

Typographic Posters

After the letterforms were done, I moved on to animating each letter individually. The result - two sets of posters: static and animated.

The Teaser

The last step was to create a short video, introducing the typeface and showcasing it at its best.
